Simplicity

I have read the statement “God is Simple” many times in spiritual texts from many different authors. I believe God is simple. God is Love. A Course in Miracles states: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Therein lies the Peace of God.” Simple. I have used that often when I have been in “tight spots,” or to bring myself to a state of Peace. I love simplicity.

In one of the last Star Trek Movies, Spock was standing next to his computer and that same statement from A Course in Miracles was on his monitor. It was slightly in the background, but plain enough to see. I smiled and wondered how often it was noticed.

The photos today are how simple it is to help our Earth and ourselves to be very much healthier and happier.

In one of my favorite books, Love Without End: Jesus Speaks…, by Glenda Green, Jesus tells us very simple ways to improve our lives. One of my favorites is to contemplate infinity every day. Look at the stars, or horizon or just imagine the infinite love of the Creator for you and the Creation. A simple moment that can change your whole day for the better.  Also view the sunrise and sunset. Watching the sunset gets your mind and physical body ready for a good night’s sleep. Especially when you add thanks for all the goodness of the day. Also, watching the sunrise sets your body for activity and gives the energy and fire of life.

About 23 years ago I asked my self how I could help the earth. I wanted to donate to organizations that had missions of helping, when I realized I could help very simply by buying organic foods. I had worked for the Animal Protection Institute in the 70s and Planetary Citizens in the 80s and understood that much of the monies donated were used for overhead. I do believe in the good work of non-profits. My love of simplicity led me to choose to use my money to help the Earth and water by buying organic products whenever I could. Organic foods help the soil, bees, butterflies, water, including our life-giving oceans, farmers’ health and our health.

At this same time is when I discovered Numi organic tea. A brother and sister who are passionate about tea and helping the Earth and her people started this company. I was so happy to purchase the little woven basket of five tea bags. Today, about 25 years later, their tea company has expanded to being fair trade and helping an organization: H2OPE helping water, soil and farmers. I have loved watching them expand over the years. I’m a lifelong tea lover and theirs are my favorite. Now I have even seen their teas in hotel room coffee and tea service. Their bottle is beautiful. Today the lid contained the Arabic Proverb, “The mind is for seeing, the heart is for hearing.”

We are all One, loving the Earth is loving your body. I feel we are all joining together in knowing this. One of my favorite songs that one of my friends often sings is the Shaker song “Simple Gifts.”
