Your Intuition: Your Bridge to Love and Light

I learned a key to my own intuition while traveling in Australia (Hobart, Tasmania), in the early 1980s. We were with some Australian friends who were showing us around, and one asked if we would like to get a “Noah.” We were puzzled. A Noah? Our friend explained that locals had developed an entire language so that the British would not know what they were speaking about, and it was known as rhyming slang. “An Ale” rhymes with whale, and a common name for a whale is a Noah. Instead of saying, “Let’s get a beer,” you would need to know how the slang works.

Over many years of practice, experience and reflection I began to understand how my own intuition works. It often is two or three steps down from my initial thought. Like rhyming slang. For example, I will have the thought, “Check the clothes dryer,” and then right as I’m at the dryer in the garage I will think, “Open the garage door.”  As I do, right at that moment I see the mailman has just opened my mailbox, so I go and get the mail, which contains several letters with cash and an important notice that I need to act on that day.

I have asked my spirit guides many times why my intuition works that way. Why not just say, “Your mail is here”? They told me there are several elements that are beneficial to this way of intuition.

Privacy, obedience, the joy of experiencing synchronicity, feeling part of the Universe of good, the unified field and practicing faith and trust is my intuition and plain old fun. One quality that I feel has been overlooked in contemporary spiritual teachings is the attribute of the Divine that is mystery. In the higher realms intuition is as common as reason and logic are in our three dimensional world.

I’ve been a professional sensitive for most of my adult life, so practicing and developing my intuition has been an ongoing discipline. My own definition of intuition comes from the word itself: in tu i tion. In, is your inner being. Tu, in many Romance languages means “you”– it’s yours given to your unique self. I, your “I am.” Tion is the movement. It’s not static. Intuition is in the now. Present in this moment.

The practice of learning more about your intuition and using it will bring you many blessings. Following your instincts, your heart, your “still, small voice,” your feelings and inspirations– all part of your intuition– will save you time and wasted effort. The part I like the most is the feeling I’m loved by the Divine. The benevolent unseen forces always present and available to guide us to our good.

The photo above reflects an aspect of intuition that is movement. We are moved to our good if we allow and accept the flow of love. Hana and I came to this spot unexpectedly. A driver stopped to see if we were ok, as it was a very cold day and we were a few miles from town. Hana said, “Oh, I’m just taking a picture of these horses.” He got out of the car, smiled and came over and introduced himself and said, “Those are my horses, and you are welcome to ride them.” That was such a welcoming feeling to our new home in Idaho as Hana had just left a job with horses and was missing them.

Many years ago I learned the importance of movement awareness as an aspect of intuition while assisting in an “Opening to Channel your Spirit Guides” workshop. Our teacher, Duane Packer, told us to allow ourselves to be moved in the room without thinking. Trusting that feeling to move, we would arrive right next to the person who needed assistance with their energy to open to their guides. If we had used our reasoning mind to figure who to help we would have missed the exact moment we were needed. I was always amazed at how that synchronicity worked so well.

These are ways I have practiced my intuition that may help you. We are all unique and have many different ways to hear God, so choose what works for you.

Meditation; trusting your feelings; prayer; quiet time in nature, and walking in nature observing meaningful signs that you know are just for you; learning the art of allowing; creating from your heart; music; doing what feels right even though it is illogical; swimming; beingness in the Now; pets (my horse taught me I was telepathic with him).
