A Higher Perspective: Horses

Roeya, age 17, County Cork, Ireland

A friend once told me, “Life is just better with a Horse in it.”

I have had a lifelong love affair with horses, and it keeps getting better all of the time. My very first memory was when I was about four years old. I saw a little book at the grocery store that had a horse on the cover. I remember it because of the feeling I had. It was a feeling of pure joy. I didn’t want to leave that photo. It took me until I was into my 30s until I got my first horse.

These photos are of my daughters, Roeya, age 17 in County Cork, Ireland, and Hana, age 10, in Carmel Valley, California. Roeya and I had a super fun trip to Ireland. We attended the Dublin Horse show with my intent that I would break the spell of not having a horse. It worked; as soon as I returned I managed to get my first horse, H.R. I didn’t learn until I had owned him for two years that H.R. stood for “High Regard.”

High Regard taught me so much about Will, Power and Beauty. These are some of the main qualities that horses posses, as well as High Regard. I needed to learn about all of these qualities. For me, the main quality was a loving relationship. He taught me that I was telepathic.

At that time, the thought of the day was that the rider told the horse what to do and it was non-negotiable. I had a different way. For the first half of the ride I would tell H.R. where to go, and the second half he could choose our trail. I was rewarded one day as I wanted to go left but he wanted to go right. We went right, as it was his turn, and we came upon a doe with her fawn. H.R. walked right up to the mama deer, and they touched noses. That was such a blessing for me.

Over the next few years our relationship grew, and I began trusting our telepathic communication more. By now I allowed him to have his home in a 50 acre pasture, rather than a stall. It was quite a hike to go and catch him. I thought one day, “I will tell H.R. I’m coming for a ride, telepathically.” It worked. I drove out to the ranch, and there he was standing at the gate. Some days I would forget to send the telepathic message and he would be far up the hill standing under the oak tree with his two palomino girlfriends.

The photo of Hana, age 10, is with her first horse, Nugget. She got up at 5:00 am that morning with so much excitement to be with her very own first horse. Nugget couldn’t be ridden, though he gave her so much love as she groomed and cared for him until the next year when she got her second horse, Cheyenne.

There are many ways to enjoy the gifts of horses without owning one. Many SPCAs have horses, and you can volunteer to care for them. There are also many non-profit organizations that care for abandoned and neglected horses. Elisa Wallace has some amazing YouTube videos of her training and rehabilitation work with wild mustangs.

My favorite virtual way of being with horses is YouTube videos, like Warwick
Schiller’s shown below, and movies. My favorite movies are The Black Stallion, Seabiscuit and Secretariat. All of these movies demonstrate the close friendship and love you can have with a horse.

There are many groups now that do Horse Therapy for any number of ailments. For me, being with any horse has always been therapeutic. The smell of the hay, hearing my horse eat and even the smells of the barn: leather, manure and the horses themselves.

Recently Hana volunteered at HAPI Trails, a nonprofit. At her orientation they told her, “Come anytime, even if you just need to smell the horses.”

Rein Dance is an international organization for therapeutic and recreational riding, and PATH Intl. certifies instructors… to name a couple I’m aware of.

Secretariat

My younger daughter, Hana with Cyanne, and our little friend Autumn.

The film Secretariat, the true story of Helen Bates “Penny” Chenery Tweedy, champion horse Secretariat, Penny’s family and her team, can be a template of success and prosperity for all of us in this new Aquarian Age. All of the ingredients for Higher Purpose, and True Heart Success are demonstrated. The qualities of Love, Unity, Right use of Will, Creativity, Prayer, Perseverance, Compassion, Intuition and Reason, Teamwork, Goodness, Respect, Intention, Humor, Celebration, Joy, Caring for others, Following Inner Guidance, Everyone involved doing their own Jobs to the best of their ability, Cooperation, Humility, Courage, Self-Love, Leading with Integrity and Belief in Yourself. Every moment of this inspiring story, told beautifully in this movie, inspires us  to create our own successful story. You can save yourself $450 for a weekend workshop by watching this movie a few times and following what it teaches.

The New World that we have entered is all about these qualities.

Penny led her team with her Divine intuition, Strength and Courage. She often said, “I am not afraid, and neither is my horse.” Secretariat has the most amazing Triple Crown record of any race horse to date. I feel his Triple Crown is the qualities of Divine Life, Truth and Love.

Love, Self Love, intention to face Life head-on and the Courage of her convictions are the main guiding principles for each of Penny’s choices as her story unfolds.

I’ve heard comments that the New World without pain, suffering and loss will be boring. Creating Heaven on Earth is anything but boring! Every single subject that you can think of will be taken to new heights that are connected to every other aspect of life, that also will be taken to unexpected places beyond our wildest dreams. Prosperity for All, clean oceans and a healed Earth, Inter-species communication, and Love as the underlying Power of Life will ask us to use our unique gifts and talents to create, create, create.

Penny’s love for her father shines through as we see that  when she was a child, he told her  to run her race. When he met “Big Red,” Secretariat, he told Penny to let him run his race. Secretariat’s trainer allowed him to run his race and be himself.

Her father tells Penny, “It doesn’t matter if they think we won; it only matters if we think we won.” In my own spiritual growth this has made all the difference: to know when I have won, regardless of if others around me are thinking I have lost.

Penny is my super heroine, an example of a modern day goddess.

The Divine message for you from Penny and Secretariat: “You run Your Race.”

I love books and movies. My favorite genres are metaphysics, biographies, documentaries and stories based on real life. For this week, if you have the chance to watch one or two of my favorite movies you will enjoy them, I’m sure, though I want to use them as a guide to your Prosperity in next week’s blog. I didn’t want to spoil your discoveries by talking about them before you had a chance to view them.

They are Secretariat (PG, Disney, 2010, starring Diane Lane) and Dare to be Wild (PG, 2015, Irish, starring Emma Greenwell). Each are available on DVD or Netflix. Each are stories based on real life.

For me, each of the movies is like a good book that you read over and over, and each time you receive something new.

There is a famous saying that the river cannot see itself. It just is. It is itself, its true being.

We are like that. We see ourselves through others, Nature and myriad different experiences and inner contemplations.

Next week I will write about what I have seen in these movies through my lens of Spiritual Prosperity, the Spirit of Nature and my growth in the wisdom of Mother Earth.

Enjoy.
