Dolphins and the Golden Age of Aquarius

Drawing and photo by Nina Wilkins

Twelve times in Earth’s history Dolphins have wanted to share their wisdom and Divine magic with humanity. Each of those times, their higher spirit selves revealed to them that most people were not ready. Now is the 13th time, and humanity has crossed the threshold into the New World, and humanity is ready.

Disney+ has just released two truly amazing documentary films about bottlenose dolphins. Not only dolphins, but also the reef community of humpback whales, turtles, many varieties of fish, shrimp and sharks are included. Dolphin Reef is a documentary that is made into a story, narrated by Natalie Portman. While I was watching I kept thinking, “How did the cinematographers ever get these shots?” You are very up-close to the dolphins’ eyes and faces. You can feel their love as though you were right there.

One truly great part of this film is teaching children about community and the connections every creature has on the reef. Each unique fish, plant, turtle, and coral has an important part to play, especially sharks. The most villanized fish in the sea is one of the most integral to the health of the whole ocean.

The program shows Dolphin characteristics that they are teaching us. Cooperation for the good of the whole pod is a main one. The scene where they fish together by making circular sand nets is worth the price of admission. Helping each other creates plenty of time left for play.

Dolphins are mammals, and their number one relationship in their community is with their offspring. Mothers nurse and tend to their babies for up to three years. They tend to the young, keeping them close with the help of “aunty dolphins.” Unlike fish, which have gills, they breathe air, so moms and aunts help the youngsters up to the surface and keep them very close for nap time. Dolphins only sleep with half of their brains while the other half keeps them alert.

Dolphins are all about love and trust. Unconditional love for ourselves, humanity and Grandmother Earth, with her Mother Nature, are the keys to living harmoniously and richly in the New World. Dolphins are leading the way by being such a good example in  their entire Reef community.

After asking myself how this film was even made, I saw the companion documentary, Diving with Dolphins, which showed me in detail. Jacque Cousteau’s granddaughter, Celine, narrates taking us around the world with several divers, boat captains and helicopter pilots who collaborated to make this incredible underwater story.

If you can take a break and watch these films, you will gain insight into the dolphins’ water world and a beginning understanding of their community. They are ready to teach us telepathy, play, the joy of movement, creating with sound, being in community and love. Very much love.

All of their magic– sonar, echo location, telepathy, synchronicity and serendipity, cooperation and nurturing the young– is guided by LOVE and a very special light frequency.

Earth Day is Every Day

From GNOMES, by Rien Poortvliet and Will Huygen; Photo by Nina Wilkins

Many years ago, when I was teaching Flower Essence Workshops, Fairy Tea Parties and Spiritual Prosperity Workshops, my friend Janette asked if I would make “hand outs, or notes” for the participants. It came to me to write a blog that could be used to share the information and be used as “hand outs” for the classes. I asked Sananda what title would be good, and he told me: “Bridges of Love Light: the Earth will be Healed by Grandmothers, Flowers and Children, Including Your Child Within, Who is Innocent.”

Dear One, you are that innocent child. Yes, You! Do you realize what you went through to be here at this time? You are a unique, Divine Child who is very needed at this time.

When I teach spiritual workshop,s the very first thing Sananda says is, “Every moment in your life up to now is exactly as it was meant to be.” So today I ask you to release guilt, shame, anger and any self-talk that is not Love. If regrets come up, put them in the light of love and forgiveness and realize you are a beautiful, Divine Child, and our dear Grandmother Earth and Mother Nature need you and LOVE YOU.

Recently, while walking Hana’s dog, Lola, I kept seeing lots of trash but didn’t pick it up, because I didn’t want to get my hands dirty. I felt very guilty. I learned from a beach cleanup workshop that cigarette butts are the most toxic to birds, who mistake them for food. Small pieces of litter like the aluminum can, ring pop tops and small pieces of styrofoam look like something edible to birds and other small creatures. These small pieces of trash are very important to pick up. Now when I go for a walk, I wear a glove and take a couple extra dog poop bags with me to fill up with litter. It’s the little things we do each day that will help our Earth.

One of my favorite books, Stillness Speaks, by Eckhart Tolle, expresses these love light ideas from Nature:

“A great silent space holds all of nature in its embrace. It also holds you.

“Nature can bring you to stillness. That is its gift to you. When you perceive and join with nature in the field of stillness, that field becomes permeated with your awareness. That is your gift to nature.

“Through you, nature becomes aware of itself. Nature has been waiting for you, as it were,
for millions of years.”

I included the photo of Gnomes at play above because your innocent inner child can most likely see or feel gnomes. The fairy realms are becoming more visible and real to humanity as the veil between dimensions becomes thinner, as Earth rises into the Golden Age of Aquarius.

I had the joy of leading a kindergarten class on a field trip to Big Sur, California. We stopped by a stream in the Redwoods where the bank was flat with just enough sandy shore to sit and have our lunch. After, the teacher asked me if I would like to tell a story so the children could have a little rest. I asked the class to just listen quietly for a moment to the creek, birds and breeze through the leaves, to just lean back on their blankets and be very still and quiet, to rest on their backs and look up to the top of the Trees to see if they could spot any birds. It was a rare day of warmth and silent breezes. At this point several of the children had dozed off, and we stayed in the stillness for about 20 minutes. That experience has stayed with me because one of the little girls on awakening said: “Miss Nina, this is the best day of my life. Thank you.” Your inner child can take you to that place.

A Higher Perspective: You and I Are Bridges of Love-Light With Mother Nature

Symbols, or metaphors, I enjoy for the four directions (these are just a few, as they are infinite): North- top, our trees or the standing people are leading us; East- right, celestite and pearls are reminding us of our pure connection to spirit and that pearls are formed by healing irritations that are transmuted to wisdom; South- bottom, is our Dolphins teaching us to play in the waters of Love; West- left, is discovering our connection to creativity for the Earth and her many elemental kingdoms.

In 1986 I traveled with two friends to the “Gathering of the Children of Light” on Mt. Shasta in California. I had seen a very small little advertisement on the bulletin board of East West
Bookstore, my home away from home, in Menlo Park. All it said was “A gathering on Mt. Shasta: Three days with speakers and channeling; $50.00, including meals.” Pat, Marilyn and I thought: “What fun! We will camp at Crystal Lake and see what the gathering is all about.”

We didn’t know what to expect and were planning for the adventure of going to a new place and being three women out on our own, which was not the norm of the time. How quickly life has changed. Our campsite was breathtaking, with a view of the mountain, and our spirits were very high and joyful. The first morning, we traveled up the Mountain, not quite to Panther Meadows, and came to a clearing with a wooden stage built for the event and a makeshift kitchen. To our surprise there were 300 people there. We kept looking at each other with expressions of, “Wow, how did we get here?”

The three days were nothing short of miraculous. On the first day, at the morning break, I noticed a young man with several people standing around him. I walked over to see that he was holding an optically clear, eight-sided, quartz crystal about 11 inches long. I had never seen anything like it and could see why people were exclaiming at its beauty. He casually said, “Well, everyone needs a metaphor.”

Right after seeing the crystal, I was walking across the grounds with a man I had just met, and we had walked several hundred feet before I realized we had been having an entire conversation telepathically. I was starting to get the gist that this was going to be an amazing three days.

The speakers were the “Who’s Who” of channels at the time, and the gathering was presented by “The Association of Sananda and Sanat Kumara,” A.S.S.K. I had read many of the books authored by these channels and was thrilled to meet them: Virginia Essene, Sister Thedra and Tueta to name a few. The book compiled and published from that event is still available on Amazon: Celestial Raise; ‘Tiers of Light’ Pouring Forth from the Son, compiled by Marcus.

As the days progressed my friends and I were transformed without even realizing it. At the breaks we were treated to amazing meals that seemed to have just materialized for a group of 300 people. Marilyn and Pat and I noticed how quiet and peaceful and harmonious the days were when we noticed several men spaced several yards apart, around the perimeter, doing light work. We hadn’t seen this energy work before, but it was explained to us by one of the volunteers.

We often don’t know when an event or a moment will change our lives and transform us. I stayed an extra day so I could attempt to integrate all I had experienced and to explore the Mountain. A volunteer told me to make sure and visit Panther Meadows, which I did, and was delighted by Alpine meadow wildflowers and an “otherworldly feeling.” Later I found out it was named after St. Germaine’s Spirit-Panther that people had seen there, not realizing the Panther was a spirit.

As I drove home the next day, alone, a song kept playing on the radio, “We are the World, We are the Children.” A very strange thing happened; no matter what channel I turned to, this same song was playing. I had about 300 miles to drive. About every 10 minutes, the entire way, this song came on. I got the message. That was the moment I committed to my World Service, even though I didn’t know what it was going to be. A few months later I formally opened to channel at a workshop given by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer.

We are in the time now of a Global Transformation. People are opening their hearts and realizing they have a spiritual purpose, even though they don’t quite know what it is. Keep listening to your inner high self, and you will hear step-by-step what to do. Be Love, and you will see you have never been separated from your Creator, your fellow man or Mother Nature.

A Higher Perspective: Butterflies

“Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, Or what’s a heaven for?”
– Robert Browning

We are all in the midst of a global transformation. We are bridging heaven to earth and earth to heaven. This time period has been called “the great awakening.”

God works in mysterious ways. Who knew that part of this bridge to heaven on earth would be a mass “cocooning” of humanity?

Butterflies are such great teachers of this process. I have loved them since I was very young. My sister and I would make little homes for the caterpillars and would think that we were communicating with them. I still feel that is true. Going from walking on the ground to becoming a creature of flight takes courage. Spinning a cocoon completely around yourself and being alone, confined to a small space, in the dark, while your body is completely changing is no small feat. Your reward when you manage to break out of this casing is freedom– a beautiful creature of flight and lightness of being.

Monarch butterflies have always been my favorites. Pacific Grove, California, “Butterfly Town, USA,” has a Monarch butterfly sanctuary. My grandsons attended a school for parents and babies up to the age of three, Parents Place, which was just across the street from this sanctuary. One day while Cooper’s younger brother, Logan, was attending his class, Cooper, not quite three years old, and I walked through the sanctuary. We were right in the middle of it when we sat on a bench and observed one of the miracles of these creatures. We looked up in the trees and couldn’t really see them as they were hanging down, attached to the leaves, with their wings closed. As we sat quietly we were treated to a breathtaking spectacle. All of the sudden, hundreds of monarchs took flight right in front of us. So very beautiful. Cooper was wide-eyed along with me.

Monarchs are one of the strongest of butterflies as they migrate thousands of miles, even crossing oceans, landing on twigs or little pieces of seaweed to rest. Their life cycle is amazing, as is ours. Humanity is transforming as we speak. We have the opportunity, now, to transmute old beliefs into the new qualities of the Golden Age we have just entered.

While we are cocooning, sheltering in place, maybe meditating for the first time, being more than doing and resting, new thoughts and beliefs can emerge. These activities make new ways of a better, freer, life more possible. Love, cooperation, unity, oneness, freedom, creativity and loving Mother Nature are some of the qualities we can take advantage of in our new world. These spiritual qualities are present for us now.

There is one very important aspect, though, that we need to remember. Just as the butterflies can only fly if they break through the cocoon (chrysalis) on their own, we are like that. Sananda told me many years ago, “The changes on earth will be grassroots; individuals, families and communities.” We can enter this new world gracefully by aligning with these qualities ourselves within our own unique beingness. We are all needed– especially LOVE of ourselves, family, friends and our Grandmother Earth, Mother Nature.

Each animal, insect, plant and tree carry unique spiritual qualities that are here to help us. Butterflies carry the qualities of transmutation, transformation, courage, beauty and freedom, to name a few. Their service is as pollinators. So, this spring, why not plant flowers and herbs that will attract and help our fellow beings of the light. For Monarchs: milkweed, chives and Siberian wallflower.

A Higher Perspective: Horses

Roeya, age 17, County Cork, Ireland

A friend once told me, “Life is just better with a Horse in it.”

I have had a lifelong love affair with horses, and it keeps getting better all of the time. My very first memory was when I was about four years old. I saw a little book at the grocery store that had a horse on the cover. I remember it because of the feeling I had. It was a feeling of pure joy. I didn’t want to leave that photo. It took me until I was into my 30s until I got my first horse.

These photos are of my daughters, Roeya, age 17 in County Cork, Ireland, and Hana, age 10, in Carmel Valley, California. Roeya and I had a super fun trip to Ireland. We attended the Dublin Horse show with my intent that I would break the spell of not having a horse. It worked; as soon as I returned I managed to get my first horse, H.R. I didn’t learn until I had owned him for two years that H.R. stood for “High Regard.”

Blog Hana Wilkins with Nugget

High Regard taught me so much about Will, Power and Beauty. These are some of the main qualities that horses posses, as well as High Regard. I needed to learn about all of these qualities. For me, the main quality was a loving relationship. He taught me that I was telepathic.

At that time, the thought of the day was that the rider told the horse what to do and it was non-negotiable. I had a different way. For the first half of the ride I would tell H.R. where to go, and the second half he could choose our trail. I was rewarded one day as I wanted to go left but he wanted to go right. We went right, as it was his turn, and we came upon a doe with her fawn. H.R. walked right up to the mama deer, and they touched noses. That was such a blessing for me.

Over the next few years our relationship grew, and I began trusting our telepathic communication more. By now I allowed him to have his home in a 50 acre pasture, rather than a stall. It was quite a hike to go and catch him. I thought one day, “I will tell H.R. I’m coming for a ride, telepathically.” It worked. I drove out to the ranch, and there he was standing at the gate. Some days I would forget to send the telepathic message and he would be far up the hill standing under the oak tree with his two palomino girlfriends.

The photo of Hana, age 10, is with her first horse, Nugget. She got up at 5:00 am that morning with so much excitement to be with her very own first horse. Nugget couldn’t be ridden, though he gave her so much love as she groomed and cared for him until the next year when she got her second horse, Cheyenne.

There are many ways to enjoy the gifts of horses without owning one. Many SPCAs have horses, and you can volunteer to care for them. There are also many non-profit organizations that care for abandoned and neglected horses. Elisa Wallace has some amazing YouTube videos of her training and rehabilitation work with wild mustangs.

My favorite virtual way of being with horses is YouTube videos, like Warwick
Schiller’s shown below, and movies. My favorite movies are The Black Stallion, Seabiscuit and Secretariat. All of these movies demonstrate the close friendship and love you can have with a horse.

There are many groups now that do Horse Therapy for any number of ailments. For me, being with any horse has always been therapeutic. The smell of the hay, hearing my horse eat and even the smells of the barn: leather, manure and the horses themselves.

Recently Hana volunteered at HAPI Trails, a nonprofit. At her orientation they told her, “Come anytime, even if you just need to smell the horses.”

Rein Dance is an international organization for therapeutic and recreational riding, and PATH Intl. certifies instructors… to name a couple I’m aware of.

Your Guardian Angel and the Archangel Michael

Today is a good day to consciously meet your own guardian angel, if you haven’t already, and receive a special blessing from the Archangel Michael.

Many years ago I began consciously working, playing and creating with the Angels. A friend told me she was working with angels and one of the things she loved about them was, “you just need to ask them for help with anything large or small.” At the time, I was receiving pages of esoteric lessons in the mail from an organization, A.S.S.K., the Association of Sananda and Sanat Kumara. These studies took everything I had to understand and practice them, so hearing of a spiritual path where you just needed to ask was welcome. Then I realized Sister Thedra’s acronym was “Ask.” I then began a life long journey with Sananda, the Archangel Michael, and am still getting to know many other angels. The Earth angels are called Devas, and they have charge over the vast infinite number of nature spirits that tend to plants, animals and the elementals.

You have a personal, just for you, guardian angel that knows you– your unique being, your mission on Earth and your purpose. This is an ideal time to get to know your G.A. better, as some people call them, and enjoy that friendship. Your own G.A. has so much to share with you about any subject you are interested in and will introduce you to other angels that love and protect you.

My own G.A. is named Ruth. I see her in my dreams. She is very beautiful and loves beauty, particularly natural beauty. I chose the photo today as it contains the elementals (earth, air, fire and water) and many of my own personal symbols of beauty. Sananda has taught me that beauty contains the principles of love and wisdom– or truth. Your love and truth are unique to you. You also have the higher or Universal Truths of your G.A. That is how we keep reaching higher and creating more beauty, personal and Universal.

We have entered the Aquarian Age where Master Saint Germaine’s Violet Flame angels are available to all. These angels, when asked, invoked or called have the Divine specialty of transmuting and transforming lower thoughts or energies into light. Anger, upset, un- forgiveness, fear or any lower vibration can be transformed into light. They also protect us.  So just ask.

A few weeks ago I discovered Lorna Byrne, a beautiful Spiritual teacher who is Irish. She has written seven books about angels. Her first was Angels in my Hair. I love her. I wanted to share her YouTube video with you, as her light and energy is so calming, real and comforting. It is long, an hour and 20 minutes. I love every moment of it. If you want to skip ahead to the end, she gives a blessing from the Archangel Michael. If you are unable to watch the video, I have transcribed the blessing here:

Prayer the Arch Angel Michael gave to Lorna Byrne

Blessing All
She asks God to bless us All.
This prayer carried by the ArchAngel Michael upon the light beam from God,
Let the healing begin from thy angels.
Bless us.
Thank you.

And from Lorna and her angels, “Sharing is caring and with the angels we will get through this.”

God Plus One (You or Me) is a Majority.

Photo by Nina Wilkins: Dolphins teach us cooperation, fun, being in the present, Mother love, jumps for joy.

Many years ago I read that and it resonated with me. It just came to my current awareness in this time of need.

An Astrologer I love, Bracha Goldsmith, has written about the astrology of today as opportunity in crisis.

In Around the Year with Emmet Fox, he reminds us: “When you are faced with some negative condition, withdraw your attention from it by building the opposite into your subconscious. Then the undesirable thing falls away like overripe fruit.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)”

We can hold a focus for good for ourselves and others, as when you focus on love you are only allowing that frequency into your reality.

We have great power when we acknowledge oneness, especially since that is one of the qualities of the Aquarian Age that we are officially in. Unity, oneness, creativity, the Power of Now, cooperation and the Love connection with your source. The power of LOVE.

I have asked my Creator and my spiritual guides over the years, especially when I have faced challenges in my life, “What is my purpose?” I have received the same answer over the years:
Remain calm; step into the light.
Be still, and know that I am God
Be the Love that you are.
Have fun.
Let go and let God.
Go outside and play.
Love nature. Be in nature. Help nature. Let nature heal, inspire and teach you about LOVE.
Teach about what I Love.

One thing I have learned is that when I accept my self acceptance, love myself and be the love that I am it not only brings me joy, lightness and comfort, I know it makes it easier for you to have those things also. We are all growing together in Love.

As Joe Dispenza, a neurologist, teaches: be in the present and fall in love with your future. Let the past go.

I love my Celtic and Irish heritage. I’m sharing an Irish Blessing with you knowing it will go around the world and even faster if you share it also:

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the Sun always shine on your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The Precious Present

Our resident moose, by H.L. Wilkins

One reason I love photographs is the precious present is captured.

I sat down on the couch to take a little break in the sun, which we haven’t seen much of for some time. The bright light came streaming in. I relaxed and stretched out and soon the kitty, Gobbles, who is quite large and long, stretched out on my shoulder and back, purring loudly. Then Hana’s dog, Lola, stretched out on my legs. Within moments we were all sunbathing, and I received a full blown reiki treatment from our pets. In those moments I felt pure peace and comfort. Pure relaxation in the sun.

One of my favorite lyrics to a popular song is “a moment in the Soul will last forever.” Since I was in my beingness, or soul, in that moment, I can draw on that experience over and over because I was in the precious present. Pure delight in the moment can be revisited by memory.

Time is funny that way; it is a paradox. Linear time is a mental construct. Real time is multidimensional, and when it intersects with your inner being becomes presence.

“The precious present allows Presence to bubble up.” —Kudos, 7 spirit Dolphins 🐬

In a book by that name that came out in the ’80s, “The Precious Present,” the students of a master spiritual teacher were at his bedside as he was near passing. He had requested some chocolate cake. They asked him: “Master, you have attained great wisdom in your life. What would you like to tell us?” He replied, “This cake is delicious.”

Eckhart Tolle, one of my favorite spiritual teachers, is on a world tour currently teaching these principles. He has many YouTube videos, which I watch, and each time I love the often long pause he takes before answering questions from the audience. He allows presence to well up and answer the question. I always am uplifted from his work. I hope you will take advantage of this bridge of love light readily available to all.

“Ask yourself: Is there joy, ease, and lightness in what I am doing? If there isn’t, then time is covering up the present moment, and life is perceived as a burden or a struggle.” —Eckhart Tolle

I highly recommend his books, especially “The Power of Now” and “Stillness Speaks.” We are now in the Aquarian Age, and one of the ways we work is by the power of now.

I included these photos of our resident neighborhood baby moose, as I never would have seen her if I hadn’t been present following my intuition. That is one of my favorite parts of synchronicity. I feel I have been given a gift by the Universe of Good.

Our mindfulness and practicing presence is not just for us. It joins us with All in Unity and Oneness—LOVE.

The Wonder, Love and Joy of Tea, Part 2

There is an old expression that I believe comes from the Celtic tradition, which is, “If you can make a proper cup of tea, you can do anything.” I subscribe to that belief.

Many years ago I had the pleasure of going to a hot tub in Santa Cruz that had a beautiful Zen Garden, and in the waiting room was The Book of Tea, by Okakura Kakuzo and Bruce Richardson (introduction) from 1906. Richardson says: “You will discover the fascinating character of Okakura Kakuzo and the story of how he came to write one of the 20th Century’s most influential books on art, beauty and simplicity all steeped in the world’s communal cup of tea.” This book was a wonderful discovery for me and the perfect preamble to our hot tub experience. Our attendant gave us an introduction to the space and took our tea order. The tea was graciously served and was a type of white tea I had never tasted. The pleasures of tea are infinite.

Cover art for the book of Tea

I love tea ceremonies. They combine mindful movement and contemplation with the simple enjoyment of tea. The grace and beauty expressed bring those qualities into our awareness and allow us the break from our logical mind. We can feel the expression of the Divine as each small part of the ceremony is a gift of higher consciousness.

I wanted to share a tea ceremony with you today and was surprised at how many videos there are on YouTube of Chinese, Korean and Japanese ceremonies. I wanted to share also, a tea shop in Monterey, CA, that gives special tea ceremonies.

Over the years I have loved creating my own tea ceremonies and enjoyed the variety of teas.

My friend took me to her Russian grandmother’s home. She served us black tea that had been simmering atop a silver samovar. The cups were artistic and golden. The tea was rich and strong and served with sweet cherry candies on the saucer. You popped one in your mouth before taking a sip of the black, smoked tea. That experience was 40 years ago, and I still remember the taste and fragrance of that wonderful tea.

I love the various colors of perfectly steeped teas. Amber, orange, dark brown, many shades of green and a hint of gold in white teas. The Japanese use a pale green in their tea cups to enhance the beautiful color.

That brings me to choosing the water for your tea. You might want to experiment with distilled, spring, filtered, oxygenated and tap water. The waters will produce a different color using the same tea. Chlorinated tap water is not recommended. I like to use my gem water and gratitude water.

As you contemplate joy in your communal cup of tea that quality just may waft through your neighbor’s window and put a smile on their face.

The Wonder, Love and Joy of Tea

My tea journey started as a child with Lipton Orange Pekoe tea. My mom would give us tea with lemon and sugar when we were sick, and it was a comfort and help to ease us into wellness. It wasn’t until I was 14 that I discovered another tea, Constant Comment, a black tea with cloves and spices. That tea was a revelation. When I was 18, I discovered a new tea at a restaurant in Chinatown that I loved, though didn’t know what it was. I carried the teabag paper in my wallet for years looking for that tea. The paper was in Chinese and I didn’t discover that it was Jasmine tea until I was in my 20’s.

Jasmine tea was the best beverage I had ever tasted at that point, though later I would discover Darjeeling (the champagne of teas), Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey, a revelation of black tea with bergamot flavoring. Next was Mango Iced tea that was served at a restaurant. My mom and I searched and searched for it and found it at a small shop in San Clemente, California.

The universe loves to give us what we love.

My next unlikely experience with tea came when I was in my 30’s and attending San Francisco State University. I took a course in Asian Humanities focused on China in the Sung Dynasty. Tea’s birthplace is in ancient China. In 2732 BC, Emperor Shennong discovered tea when leaves rom a wild bush blew into his boiling pot of water. In this course we studied the poetry of Su Tung-po, and we read The Gay Genius: The Life and Times of Su Tungpo, by Lin Yutang. Su Tung-po lived from 1037-1101 and his wonderful poetry has survived. It contained hints of metaphysics and the love of nature. What I remember of him was his detailed writing about tea.

Tea ceremonies were almost a religion to Su Tung-po. He said that for a proper tea you needed 23 special utensils, and if you only had 22 not to invite a guest. He and his friends would travel to a river and choose to draw water from the right curve of the banks, where the water would be freshest. Then they would choose a fragrant wood for the fire. When the water boiled there would be deliberate movements for pouring the tea and contemplation. To this day I remember his joy in tea.

Enjoying your tea contemplation is a wonderful start to your Day and a worthy Bridge of Love Light.

To be continued next week…
